We caught up with Brian Callihan at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville to talk about his newest single “Prettiest Girl” and the success of “Broke It Down.” Additionally, we’re excited to premiere the single a day before tomorrow’s official release!
Choosing the Song
“Prettiest Girl” is the only song thus far that Callihan cut and didn’t write. Being a fantastic writer himself, he has an ear for music that’s too good not to record, so when Adam Sanders sent him the song, he replied, “It sounds like a hit to me.”
Sanders cowrote the song with Cole Taylor and Corey Crowder. He continued, “I thought it sounded like somethin’ I woulda wrote. I’m a big melody guy – I love melodies, so it was right up my alley.”

“Broke It Down” Success
When we first spoke with Callihan in 2020, he talked about “Broke It Down” and its initial release. Since then, he’s put out a remastered version of the song to radio and it’s been climbing the Billboard charts. “It’s really a blessing,” he said of his current #41 spot.
Callihan’s video for “Broke It Down” appeared on the CMT Music 12-Pack countdown late last year and the fans were excited to cast their votes. He responded, “It’s very cool and flattering.”
In an interview with CMT, he described the video. “The video does a good job of bringing the lyrics of the song to life. It paints a good visual image of the heartache and emotion that we had in mind when we wrote the song.”
