It’s always a joy to see smart people who have a lot going for them and Stephanie Quayle is one of those people. She got her start in music and launched her own business in between.
When she was sixteen, needed to get away from her hometown for a while, so she enrolled in a foreign exchange program in Switzerland and auditioned for her first band. When she got on the stage, she knew that’s what she was meant to do and thought, “I’m going to figure out a way.”
Stephanie has come a long way since then and made her Grand Ole Opry debut last year. The switch from businesswoman to full time musician officially flipped and she knew where she was supposed to be. She never found it difficult to navigate both sides of business and music quickly because she’s done it her whole life.
Her single. “If I Was a Cowboy” was one of the top ten most added to country radio. She’s been highlighted in Rolling Stone Country, People, Billboard, Huffington Post, and more.
Stephanie was named one of CMT’s “Next Women of Country” and said, “It’s such an honor. I think about the women who have come before me and those that hopefully I will raise up and that will follow me as well. It’s awesome. I take it very seriously. I want to make great music and keep impacting lives in a positive way.”
When asked what’s coming for women in the genre, she replied, “Everything is next for women in country music.” She explained that even though radio play is still not equal, we’re seeing a movement where there are more tours and festivals that promote women. “The women have such different voices and different personalities. There really is room for everyone.” And she’s certain that more women will show up on country radio. “It’s just going take a little time. We’ll get there,” she assured me.
Flock of Quayle
Many fan groups have names and the “Flock of Quayle” is the name for Stephanie’s. In 2016, she wanted to identify her fan family, and when the VP of Rebel Engine suggested “Flock of Quayle,” the fans latched on and quickly created memes, photoshopped images, etc. “So fun to watch it be a global family.”
What’s Next for Stephanie
Stephanie will soon release the music video for “If I was a Cowboy” and she also plans to have new music at the end of summer. Her goal is to “continue to make music that makes people feel.” Get more information about Stephanie at https://www.stephaniequayle.com/.
