In the bustling heart of Nashville’s Country Radio Seminar (CRS), I had the privilege of sitting down with country artist Scotty Hasting. His latest single, “I’m America,” resonates deeply with listeners as it celebrates the unity and beauty of the American spirit. Penned by Wade Kirby and Phil O’Donnell, this soul-stirring track captured Hasting’s heart from the first note.

“I’m America” isn’t just another song for Hasting; it’s a reflection of his own journey. “Every single line of this song is why I decided to enlist in the Army,” he shares. “It celebrates ALL of the things and people that make this country beautiful and indivisible.”

Reflecting on the divisiveness in today’s world, Hasting breathes life into a song dedicated to standing firm in celebrating what unites us as Americans. “I love the beauty in this country and everything that makes this country beautiful,” he emphasizes, noting that we’re such a melting pot of people, ethnicities, and religions.

Hasting’s passion for using music to make a difference extends beyond the recording studio. He’s actively involved in charity events, leveraging his talents to give back to those in need. “From the very beginning, I wanted my music to help people,” he explains. “I want my music to give hope to veterans like myself or just anyone who’s struggling because I struggle every day. “

As we delve into Hasting’s background, it becomes clear that music has always been more than just a career—it’s been a lifeline. In reflecting on his journey, he acknowledges that music served as a refuge during challenging times, such as the COVID shutdown. Learning to play the guitar and composing songs provided solace and peace, helping him navigate through turbulent moments and quiet the inner turmoil he faced.

Looking ahead, Hasting has exciting projects on the horizon. His new single “Runnin’,” co-written with Black River’s VP of A&R Doug Johnson and Shannon Book, is slated for release on March 19, with more music coming later this spring.

Through his music, Scotty Hasting embodies the resilience and spirit of America, offering a beacon of hope and unity in a world that often feels divided. As his journey unfolds, one thing remains certain: his dedication to uplifting others through the power of song will continue to shine brightly.
