Today, rising country artist Jesse Daniel shares his latest single, “Time Well Spent For A Man,” a heartfelt collaboration with Charles Wesley Godwin. The song, available now via Lightning Rod Records, will appear on Daniel’s forthcoming album Son of the San Lorenzo, set for release on June 6.

A Song About What Truly Matters

Written by Northern California songwriter Nick Foster, “Time Well Spent For A Man” offers a poignant reflection on how we choose to spend our days and what we’ll remember in the end. Daniel, known for his honest songwriting and road-worn delivery, was moved by the message and felt compelled to bring it to life—inviting Godwin to join him on the track after the two toured together last year.

“This song was written by Northern California songwriter Nick Foster. It is an ode to father time,” Daniel explains. “To me, it’s also about focusing on the meaningful things in life. On our deathbed, we’ll remember raising our children, our spouse’s kiss, time spent doing what we loved, as opposed to how many hours we logged in the office. I loved the message of this song and felt compelled to record it. Charles Wesley Godwin came to mind with the subject matter. He’s a family man and an incredible songwriter himself. His vocals really helped add to the depth of the whole thing.”

A Glimpse Into Son of the San Lorenzo

Daniel has already shared the album’s first single, “My Time Is Gonna Come,” which earned critical acclaim for its hopeful, self-reflective tone. Country Central praised the song as a “joyful ode to self-reflection, prosperity and the future,” giving it an 8/10 review. The track has also received nods from American Songwriter, Whiskey Riff, Holler, and All Country News.

Recorded live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville, the album spans 11 tracks that chronicle Daniel’s personal journey—from hitchhiking in the shadow of the Santa Cruz Mountains to overcoming addiction. Musically, the project draws inspiration from California country legends like the Eagles and the Flying Burrito Brothers, as well as classic rock influences such as Led Zeppelin and the Allman Brothers.

The record features standout contributions from Charlie McCoy, SteelDrivers banjo player Richard Bailey, and Lynyrd Skynyrd keyboardist Peter Keys.
