Annie Bosko, a rising country powerhouse known for her commanding voice and fiery spirit, has released her latest single, “Country Girls! (Who Runs the World),” out now via Stone Country Records. The high-energy track is a celebration of the women who juggle it all with resilience, confidence, and a little honky-tonk flair.
Blending catchy call-and-response choruses with blazing harmonica and bold attitude, the track honors the everyday hustle of country women, from working hard to raising families — all while keeping their boots kickin’.
Honoring Women’s Strength in Country Music
“It’s no secret that being a woman in country music means working twice as hard with half the time,” says Bosko. “There’s constant pressure – around age, appearance and how you present yourself. Guys can show up in a ball cap and jeans, but it doesn’t work that way for us. Female artists have always made up a smaller slice of the country music marketplace. But when they break through, they break through big.”
Bosko points to Shania Twain as one of her greatest inspirations. “She made me feel powerful – like I could be bold, feminine, sexy, smart, fiery and fun all at once,” she adds. “That’s what I hope this song does: sparks that fire and makes women feel fearless and ready to take on the world.”
CMA Fest Flash Mob and Line Dance Launch
To amplify the release, “Country Girls! (Who Runs the World)” was launched with an original line dance, debuted by a surprise flash mob at CMA Fest. Bosko joined dancers from the Nashville Dance Fest at the Ariat storefront in downtown Nashville to bring the moment to life. Fans can watch the performance and learn the dance themselves through a tutorial video.
Writing and Production Team
The track was co-written by Bosko, David “Messy” Mescon, and Bridgette Tatum, with Tatum also stepping in as co-producer. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the modern country woman:
She’s a neon night
She’s mama tried
She’s a cowboy, she’s a lady
She’s 9 to 5
And 5 to 9
Raisin’ hell and babies
Hot as mama’s fried chicken
Keeps her boots kickin’
Woohoo woohoo woohoo who runs the world
Woohoo woohoo woohoo who runs the world
Country girls

Building Toward Her Debut Album
The new single follows Bosko’s recent release “God Winks,” a heartfelt track about faith and timing that she performed on RFD-TV’s On the Record and Fox 11’s Good Day LA. These releases, along with “California Cowgirl,” are laying the groundwork for her highly anticipated debut album, due later this year.
Bosko continues to write with top talents including David “Messy” Mescon, Jeffrey Steele, and Bridgette Tatum. She’s also collaborating with producer Trent Willmon to bring her full vision to life — a collection of songs rooted in her upbringing as a farmer’s daughter and shaped by the twang and storytelling of ’90s country.
A Career of Breakthroughs and Collaborations
Annie Bosko’s journey in country music has been marked by standout moments and meaningful partnerships. Her self-titled EP featured the charting single “Neon Baby,” which led to her late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She has also collaborated with country legends like Vince Gill on “Higher Ground” and Dwight Yoakam on “Heart Burn,” while her duet “Better Than You” with Joe Nichols became a Top 40 Country radio hit and held a top five spot for most-added songs across five weeks.
Her breakout moment came in 2014 with the SiriusXM/CMT favorite “Crooked Halo,” which has racked up over 3 million streams. Since then, she has written for Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson, toured with artists like Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton, sold out the Troubadour, and performed on both the Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium stages.
