Ashley McBryde is set to release a collaborative album: Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville on September 30 via Warner Music Nashville. The CMA and ACM award winner partnered with some of her favorite songwriters and artists to bring this record to life.
She invited Aaron Raitiere, Connie Harrington, Brandy Clark, Benjy Davis and Nicolette Hayford to a cabin outside of Nashville for a week of collaboration and songwriting. McBryde shared, “We stayed in Tennessee in this little house close to a lake. It was eight bottles of tequila, two cartons of cigarettes, one kitchen table and six individuals out of their minds.”
Past songs from McBryde featured intriguing characters, which inspired the direction of this album.
“A few years ago, Aaron Raitiere, Nicolette Hayford and I were on a write,” said McBryde. “We wrote this song called ‘Blackout Betty,’ and I realized we had written previous songs called ‘Shut Up Sheila’ on Never Will and ‘Livin’ Next to Leroy’ on Girl Going Nowhere. Aaron had a song called ‘Jesus, Jenny,’ and I thought, ‘We should keep these characters together and give them a place to live!’
“Not long after that, I thought, ‘What if we call it Lindeville?’ in honor of Dennis Linde,” the Arkansas-native continues. “I want to lock six writers in a house and just spend six- or seven-days writing. We stayed in Tennessee in this little house close to a lake. It was eight bottles of tequila, two cartons of cigarettes, one kitchen table and six individuals out of their minds.”
Each song gives a clear picture of the characters and facets of this small town. We know that Betty needs to throw her bra on, so she can go out and fight another woman and Jenny’s drunk on a Monday night and needs to go home.
