Cam officially announced the release of her highly-anticipated sophomore album The Otherside, available October 30 from Triple Tigers/RCA Records. The press release states that the album was written over the last three years in LA, Nashville, and NYC with collaborators Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Sam Smith) and Grammy winner Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Bruno Mars), whom she calls her fellow “tinkerers.” The Otherside is available for pre-order now.
New Single: “Classic”
In addition to the album release, Cam dropped her latest single “Classic” today, which is about a long-lasting relationship that’s reminiscent of the great “classic” things we remember, yet occurs the present—a relationship built to last. We definitely hit “rewind” on this song to hear it again.
“Jack and I caught something in the air that day and ran with it,” Cam says. “The track is so much fun. Jangling guitars, claps, it feels like when a group of familiar people get back together over the holidays, clanking around after dinner with too much wine, and amidst the chatter and laughter and closeness they are really telling each other, deep down, just how much they love each other.”
“They don’t make ’em like this anymore”, Cam sings, which is also indicative of her unique talent as an artist. Cam is truly a gifted lady who will soar with this album.
The Making of The Otherside
We interviewed Cam earlier this year and she explained that she developed as an artist during the making of The Otherside. “It’s been an amazing journey of me touring so much and getting better at singing and better at music,” she shared.
Not only has Cam been perfecting her singing during this time, but she’s been enhancing her storytelling skills as well. She said, “To me, the best part of music, which is what I tried to put into this album, is the storyteller needs to feel believable. If you don’t believe what they’re saying, if you don’t hear yourself in it, then you’re not going to want to listen.”
