The Chad Cooke Band will officially release “I Just Want You” tomorrow and it’s one you’ll want to add to your playlist. We’re thrilled to premiere the song and lyric video right here!
Andy Albert, Jordan Walker, and Marc Beeson penned the tune and pitched it, along with a handful of other songs, to the band a few years ago. Chad Cooke wanted to know what his wife thought of “I Just Want You” specifically, but asked her to listen to the entire group to elicit a genuine reaction. “It was the only one where she took her headphones off,” he began, “She looked at me and had tears in her eyes. She said, ‘Y’all have got to record that song. I can’t believe no one’s ever recorded this song before.’”
Cooke continued, “I fell in love with the song as soon as I heard it and when the wife falls in love with it and says you gotta record it, well, you gotta record it!”
The Chad Cooke band’s most recent songs all went number one on radio and the band is grateful for the support. “Having radio behind us and in our corner for the past five consecutive number ones has been awesome,” Cooke said. They were able to book festivals and larger shows because someone heard them on the radio. Radio has propelled them further than they initially anticipated.
“I Just Want You”
When asked whether they felt pressure to land another number one song, Cooke explained that reaching number one isn’t necessarily the goal, but it’s a bonus to get there. He credited their promoter Dillon Steen for helping them on their journey. “We couldn’t ask for a better person by our side,” Cooke said.
Forming the Band
The Chad Cooke band came together about five years ago in Houston. Cooke spent time in Nashville and when he returned, he eventually realized he wanted to revitalize his music career. Since he didn’t know anyone in Houston at the time, he placed an ad on Craigslist and met Dallas through his friend who responded and connected the two. From there, Mike and Kevin joined and that’s where their journey began.
What’s Next for the Chad Cooke Band
The band plans to release a video for “I Just Want You” soon. Additionally, they will release their self-titled album this summer. Dallas said that fans can expect the truest form of the Chad Cooke Band with this release. He stated, “I believe this is an album where we’ve really discovered who we are.”
