Family holds a special place in Charles Wesley Godwin’s heart. His breakthrough album, Family Ties, showcases melodic stories about his friends, family, and roots. The album is like a musical photo album, with many songs dedicated to his own family members. Godwin extends this theme with The Family Ties Trilogy, a series of videos culminating in an ambitious short film.
The Family Ties Trilogy: A Cinematic Journey
The film chronicles a family across three decades: building a family during the Great Depression, enduring World War II, and transitioning into the 1950s. The first chapter, “Miner Imperfections,” premiered today on CMT, displayed on the Paramount video billboard in Times Square, New York City. The second chapter, “Another Leaf,” will be released on June 20, with the full trilogy, including the third chapter, “Dance in Rain,” debuting on June 26.
Godwin’s Vision for the Trilogy
“The idea for The Family Ties Trilogy came from our director, Justin Clough,” Godwin shares. “The album Family Ties was a concept album, and I was excited about continuing that theme in our videos. The story of this family resonates with the experiences of many American families from that era, and I wanted these songs to tell that narrative.”
