Country, bluegrass, and gospel GRAMMY Award®-nominated group Dailey & Vincent just released their newest album titled Let’s Sing Some Country. While they’ve played country songs for a while, their decision to release a full album showcases how talented they are in the genre.
For years, they’ve had a weekly television show, which includes a music variety show, giving them the space to sing bluegrass, gospel, and country. Jamie Dailey explained, ”We had done so much country music on the television show, we thought it was only fitting that our next record be a country record.”
The group was nominated for a Grammy for one of their songs on the 2010 record Dailey & Vincent Sing The Statler Brothers, which further sparked their interest in a country album. “The time has come where we thought, ‘We should try this’ and put out the kind of country we like to sing. Our style of country,” Dailey continued.
The album itself is unmistakably country from the first note. The title stems from their bluegrass and gospel playing sessions, where all of a sudden, they’d exclaim, “Let’s play some country!” And they did.
Produced by the talented Paul Worley, Darrin Vincent explained that he took the album in a different direction and worked with Dailey to find a “great collection of newer songs.” “I’m just really thrilled,” he shared. Several talented artists are featured on the album, including Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Jake Hoot, Vince Gill, and more.
“I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee”
Dailey called out several songs on the album. “I love singing ‘I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee,’” he began, “because it basically tells the story of my life and my family’s life. It’s how we grew up.”
The tune was recently announced as the state song for Tennessee and the group expressed their excitement. “We were so thankful that they chose to make that a Tennessee state song,” Dailey said. They had the opportunity to sing it on the floors for the House and Senate, who voted it in unanimously. After that, they spent 45 minutes at the Governor’s office, where he officially signed it in. They’re currently working on a music video to accompany the song, which will be released this fall.
