Drew Baldridge recently released two new singles, which are his most recent releases since the single “Gentle Man” which came out in 2018 and has over 2.1 million plays on Spotify. The two pieces are expected to be a prelude to an upcoming album or EP, as his last full-length album Dirt On Us was released in 2016.
The first song, “Senior Year,” is making a splash and is definitely worth listening to. It is a nostalgic song that almost everyone can relate to, capturing the feeling of being a senior in high school so well. It takes you back to a simpler time, being young, free, and having fewer worries. “Every time I get to town/I take a lap around/And I can’t help but smile/’Cause we were big shots for a little while/Senior year/Senior year.”
“God’s People,” the second newly released single holds a powerful message, which everyone needs to be reminded of. “From the most wanted man on the six o’clock news/To the raised hands in the church pews/We’re all kids on His big ole world/Going round and round/Right now, can you see that-” It is a refreshing change from much of what is being released in country music right now, drawing on roots from more traditional songs.
