A Double Premiere from Billie Jo Jones
Country Evolution is thrilled to exclusively premiere not one, but two brand-new songs from Billie Jo Jones: “Playin’ Pretend” and “Tequila’s Hittin’ Me Harder.” Both tracks showcase the Texas native’s knack for blending heartfelt storytelling with the traditional country sound she’s come to embody.
“Playin’ Pretend” delivers a reflective, emotionally charged look at love and vulnerability, while “Tequila’s Hittin’ Me Harder” captures that familiar mix of heartbreak and honky-tonk grit that defines Jones’ signature style. Together, the two songs highlight her versatility as both a vocalist and a storyteller, which are qualities that have made her one of the most talked-about rising stars in country music.

From Texas Roots to Chart-Topping Success
Born and raised in Texas, Billie Jo Jones was destined for the stage from an early age. She fondly recalls performing living room concerts for her grandparents when she was just four or five years old, setting the stage for a lifelong love affair with country music. Influenced by legends like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, Patsy Cline, Ray Price, and Loretta Lynn, she has carried those classic sounds into her own authentic artistry.
Her breakout single, “Right Now Kinda Girl,” reached the top of the Texas Regional Radio Chart, paving the way for her debut album, Some Girls Don’t Cry. The album’s title track also soared to #1, cementing her place in the Texas country scene. She followed with a string of chart-toppers, including “Whose Tequila Are You Drinkin’,” which hit #1 on the CDX True Indie chart and earned her recognition as Music Row’s Top Female Indie Artist. Her success continued with the Amazon #1 best-selling single “Flame,” marking her fourth consecutive #1.
A Star on the Rise
As Billie Jo’s audience grows beyond Texas, her charm and talent are reaching new heights. She’s currently featured on the new CBS/Paramount+ series The Road, premiering Sunday, October 19 at 9 PM ET/PT. Her latest single, “Turquoise & Silver,” is already climbing the country charts, building momentum ahead of her upcoming album release on October 17.
With “Playin’ Pretend” and “Tequila’s Hittin’ Me Harder,” Billie Jo Jones continues to prove why she’s one of country music’s most authentic and exciting voices, an artist rooted in tradition yet bold enough to blaze her own trail.
