Country singer-songwriter Daniel Jeffers has officially released his debut project, Not Yet The E.P., available everywhere now. The four-song collection, co-written with hitmakers Bobby Hamrick and Justin Halpin, highlights Jeffers’ raw, heartfelt storytelling with lyrics that feel both relatable and authentic. From the reflective title track “Not Yet” to the nostalgic “If This Town Could Talk,” the EP proves why Jeffers is quickly becoming one of country music’s most exciting new voices.
A Dallas, NC native, Jeffers first captured national attention with his breakout single “Roll One With Willie,” which earned him MusicRow’s coveted DISCovery Award. In 2025, his career momentum hit new heights with his CMA Fest debut on the Spotlight Stage and TV appearances on Fox 17 Nashville and News Channel 5. With Not Yet The E.P., Jeffers is making his mark as both a songwriter and performer.
We caught up with Jeffers to talk about the new release, his journey so far, and what’s ahead.
Not Yet The E.P. tells a story about heartbreak and relationships. Can you walk us through how you chose these four songs from the 7-8 you wrote?
After the writing retreat with Justin and Bobby, we sat down with the team at Spirit Music, and with the guidance of Frank Rogers we narrowed it down to the four that we felt showed the most range sonically, but also told a story. There was one song a lot of us were split on, but I’m happy with how this first project turned out and hopefully, we can get that one out in the near future.
How did co-writing with Bobby Hamrick and Justin Halpin influence the final sound and story of the EP?
Man, it was honestly just great to get to build a repertoire with them. Being able to build somewhat of a trusting relationship with your co-writers allows you to feel more comfortable, and getting to see how they work allowed for the music to happen naturally. They both also are able to hop around in their writing styles which helped me play with different sounds and overall tones of the songs.
“Roll One With Willie” was your breakout single. How did the experience of writing and performing that song shape your approach to Not Yet The E.P.?
“Roll One With Willie” was one of my first real Nashville co-writes, and was actually done over Zoom. It also was the first time the record was recorded, mixed, mastered in Nashville, so it really is the song that started the beginning of taking music seriously. The song was written with Zach John King, Jake Parshall, Chris Buck and Ben Chase. We wanted to make something light hearted and fun and think we accomplished that! While being a more mid-tempo song, I wanted something more up-tempo and something for summer; I think we found that in “Not Yet”. It was also cool to see it recognized by MusicRow with the DISCovery Award, as well.
What’s your typical process when writing a new song? Do you start with lyrics, melody, or both?
I usually try to start with the lyrics and find a melody that fits, but it all changes from room to room and what feels right! I think it can be dangerous to only write one certain way, so the last couple years I’ve been focusing on building songs out with the different processes.
How did you get started as a country artist and at what point did you decide to make it a career?
After coming home from a not so pleasant college journey, I had learned to play the guitar and was recording YouTube country covers. I joined a cover band, and played 4 years in small bars cutting my teeth. At that time I had written a few songs, but finally decided to record them and put them out. In 2023, my now manager contacted me and we just built an easy relationship. He’s helped guide me and as I’ve continued to develop and grow my online followings, the journey started to feel more and more possible. I’ve been playing for dang near 15 years now, and I knew I wanted to give it a shot.
Who or what are your biggest influences in music?
My biggest influences are real life situations. While I can make up a situation in my head to write about, I think there’s something more special and cathartic when you can pull from real life. My family. My mentality. Things I think we all experience in day to day life that people can relate to. And some musical influences I like to draw from are Keith Whitley, Vince Gill, George Jones, and groups like Shenandoah. I’ve always connected to the sad sides of country music but also country that makes me feel something melodically.
Is there anything else coming up for you that you want people to know about?
On the music front, I just want people to hear the E.P. and let me know what’s resonating and what’s not. Like I mentioned, I have songs we’d like to put out at some point but we’re going to focus on pushing these! On the personal front, my wife will be having our third baby in October so we’re looking forward to having another little girl running around with our other daughter and son.
With Not Yet The E.P., Daniel Jeffers delivers a debut that is honest, heartfelt, and rooted in the storytelling tradition of country music. His ability to craft songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable sets him apart as an artist to watch. As his momentum continues to build, this first project is only the beginning of what promises to be a long and impactful career.
