Flatland Cavalry Pays Homage to Their Roots with “Lubbock”

Today, acclaimed country band Flatland Cavalry unveils their latest single, “Lubbock”, an ode to the West Texas town that played a foundational role in their story. Written back in 2016 by frontman Cleto Cordero, this song captures the essence of Lubbock, where the band was first formed. Over the years, the song has resonated with fans as a tribute to community, kindness, and a place deeply entwined with music history. Reflecting on the track, Cordero shares, “This song I wrote after living in Lubbock for a season of my life… I’m just enamored by the music history there and the people and the kindness they have in their hearts.”

The Journey Behind “Lubbock”

Having lived in Lubbock for a time, Cordero developed a close bond with the town’s rich music culture and community spirit. “I really kind of adopted it as a new hometown,” he notes, adding that while the track was originally written years ago, it finally found a perfect place on their upcoming album. Cordero considers “Lubbock” one of his personal favorite moments captured on tape.

The Upcoming Album: Flatland Forever

Set for release on November 8 via Interscope Records, Flatland Cavalry’s new album, Flatland Forever, commemorates the band’s decade-long journey together and serves as a tribute to their Texas roots. The album includes fan favorites from each of their previous records, plus four new tracks and exclusive alternate versions. Additionally, fans will enjoy commentary from the band members themselves, reflecting on each era of their career and the inspiration behind their music.

Recent Milestones and Accolades

Since their start in 2014, Flatland Cavalry has rapidly risen within the country music scene, recently earning their first ACM Awards nomination and a Gold RIAA certification for their single “A Life Where We Work Out.” With headline debuts at venues like Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the band continues to expand their audience. Their 2023 album, Wandering Star, has also received widespread acclaim, with No Depression describing it as “a collection of songs that feel timeless right out of the gate.”
