George Strait Releases New Album and Returns to ACM Awards Stage

George Strait, known as the King of Country Music, released his 30th studio album on March 29 titled, “Honky Tonk Time Machine”. Holding a record with 60 #1 songs, which beats any artist in any genre, this new album is sure to break his own record. Strait cowrote almost every song on his album, except his cover of “Old Violin” by Johnny Paycheck. His first number one as a songwriter was back in 2011 with “Here For A Good Time”. If his new album is anything like his previous ones, you can expect the country twang to still be there. With the pedal steel sound coming through, and even the fiddle, you can tell he’s sticking with his country roots. The album itself doesn’t feel like any new country music we’ve heard and almost sounds like he went back to his 80s/90s country side with lyrics that are deep in the heart of country music and music that makes you want to learn how to line dance.

Back in 2014, Strait called it quits, which was unexpected for every country music fan. He still released music the year after, but has been quiet since then. Playing shows in a few places and having a “Strait to Vegas” gig, George seemed to have settled quite nicely into his “retirement”. He announced last year that he was planning on releasing a new album for 2019 and there wasn’t any doubt that he would change his ways. His voice hasn’t changed a bit and you feel almost nostalgic listening to his new music. The King of Country is back and you can check out his new album now available everywhere!

Strait performed at the 2019 ACM Awards this past weekend with a special guest appearance by Miranda Lambert. They teamed up to sing Strait’s song, “Run”, which brought us down memory lane. Staying true to himself, he wore his cowboy hat with his outfit and closed the night out with his single off of his new album, “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar”.
