Texas country crooner Jake Worthington brought his unmistakable twang to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 28, delivering an electrifying opening set that honored the roots of traditional country music. During his performance, Worthington surprised fans with the announcement of his upcoming single, “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart),” set for release on March 14.
We spoke with Worthington last year, regarding his debut album and we cannot wait for new music!
The song, co-written by Worthington, Marty Stuart, and Jenna LaMaster, features Stuart’s legendary guitar work and serves as the first release since Worthington’s duet “Hello Shitty Day” with country superstar Miranda Lambert. With more music on the horizon, Worthington reaffirms his place as a key figure in the revival of neotraditional country, earning widespread recognition for keeping the genre’s classic roots alive.

A Weekend of Music in Music City
In addition to his performance at the Mother Church of Country Music, Worthington made a special appearance at Lucchese, the renowned western wear brand and bootmaker, in The Gulch last Friday for an intimate acoustic set.
During his Ryman set, the La Porte, Texas native treated fans to standout tracks from his self-titled debut album, which Texas Monthly calls “gorgeous beer-joint purism.” His setlist included crowd favorites like:
- “Next New Thing”
- “Night Time Is My Time”
- “State You Left Me In”
Touring with Country’s Biggest Names
Worthington will continue bringing his honky-tonk sound across the country this spring, hitting the road alongside Zach Top and Riley Green.

With the release of “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart)” on the horizon, Worthington continues to carry the torch for traditional country. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” he declares. “Blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
