Out today, June 5, Son of the San Lorenzo marks a bold new chapter for rising country artist Jesse Daniel, whose life story and musical evolution are laid bare across 11 gripping tracks. Released via Lightning Rod Records, the album was recorded live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville and includes a moving collaboration with Charles Wesley Godwin.

Blending personal storytelling with classic influences, Daniel’s new record traces his journey from turbulent beginnings in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains to recovery and redemption through music.

“I wrote, arranged and produced this record myself,” said Daniel. “I also took on much of the sonic direction, including percussion, rhythm and lead guitar, harmonies and more, which I think is a really important piece of the puzzle given how personal these songs are. I felt like I was finally ready to stop running and face things head on with this record. I felt like I’d matured enough to go deeper than I ever had before, to try and understand how I got here and where I’m headed.”

A Soundtrack to Survival and Self-Discovery

The album showcases Daniel’s evolution as both an artist and a person, drawing from his time on the road and his struggles with addiction and hardship. The results are raw, vivid, and emotionally resonant.

Among the album’s standout moments is “Time Well Spent For A Man”, featuring Charles Wesley Godwin, praised by many.

Influences and Iconic Collaborations

While unmistakably rooted in country, Son of the San Lorenzo draws sonic inspiration from the California country rock of the Eagles and Flying Burrito Brothers, along with the grit of Led Zeppelin and the soul of the Allman Brothers. Jesse Daniel is joined on the record by renowned musicians including:

  • Charlie McCoy
  • Peter Keys of Lynyrd Skynyrd
  • Richard Bailey of The SteelDrivers

A Global Tour and Career Milestones

This summer, Jesse Daniel will bring his music to fans across Brazil, Europe, the U.S., and Australia, including his first headlining shows at the legendary Billy Bob’s and Gruene Hall in Texas. He’ll also appear at AmericanaFest in Nashville this fall.

The tour comes on the heels of a breakthrough 2024. Daniel kicked off last year by writing the theme song for comedian Dusty Slay’s Netflix special Workin’ Man, followed by the release of his acclaimed album Countin’ The Miles, which charted in the Top 30 on the Americana Radio Chart. His recent success also included a collaborative tour with Benjamin Tod and supporting Charles Wesley Godwin on tour.
