Growing Up With Music
Florida-native Karli Ryan has been around music her entire life. Her parents were performers as well, so it made her choice to pursue a career in music a no-brainer. Further, Karli grew up singing in her church like many other country music artists do at a young age.
Karli states, “I started performing when I was ten years old. And I was in this vocal group called ‘Dare to Dream’ with a bunch of kids my age. Every month or so, we would perform small gigs in Nashville at places like ‘Hard Rock.’”
Similarly, Karli has been writing her own music since she was seventeen years old. When asked about some artists who influenced her growing up, Karli said that her musical taste has always spanned myriad genres.
“I listened to Stevie Nicks and Justin Bieber… so my influences were all over the place. When I do my gigs now, I like to take songs that are outdated today and make them more ‘earthy’ and folk.”
By all means, you can definitely hear the soul and ‘church choir’ sound in Karli’s music, especially in her most popular single “Gimme Back My Heart.”

Karli’s latest single is also her most popular one across all music streaming platforms. Released back in 2019, “Gimme Back My Heart” has almost over one million streams.
Karli explained, “I wanted to write a story that the younger generation could connect with. However, it took me a really long time to brainstorm ideas for a story. Once I figured it out, I realized I wanted to write a song about what it would be like to go through a sad situation like a heartbreak.”
Additionally, Karli performed “Gimme Back My Heart” on American Idol back in 2019.

After an extremely long day of trying to outperform other artists in the audition rooms, Karli finally landed an audition in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. After performing her original song “Gimme Back My Heart” for the judges, they passed on her.
However, Karli says that “I learned a lot from it. I took everything that the judges said to heart, and it has made me stronger. Every single ‘no’ makes we want to work harder, and make better music compared to what I already have now.”
In addition to her appearance on American Idol in 2019, Karli has auditioned for NBC’s The Voice a few times as well. You can watch Karli’s audition from American Idol here.
The Foreseeable Future
April 9 is the date Karli Ryan has set for the release of her new upcoming single. Furthermore, she plans to release a total of four tracks in 2021.
Karli states, “I am an open book when it comes to writing, I love to write about everything. So my fans should plan on all kinds of songs ranging from encouraging songs to songs about love.”
After these four singles, the young artist claims that she is going to “work her butt off and hopefully release an album within the foreseeable future.”
