Earlier this week, New York native and country music artist Ken Wilber released his brand new single “Freedom Song” to radio via CDX distribution services. This gives Wilber the opportunity to disseminate his musical sound across the country through all major streaming platforms. Some of Wilber’s country music influences include Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, George Jones and Johnny Cash.
At the beginning of his career, Wilber formed the band Fly By Nite in 2002, as the lead singer, with some friends. The band played at local ‘watering holes’ for ten years before splitting up in 2012. Later, Wilber joined the southern rock group J.D. Mistress for six months before leaving to work on his solo career. After that, Wilber collaborated with long-time work partner Kerry Fallot on Wilber’s first album “Rollin’ My Own,” which they completed in 2017. More recently, Ken Wilber dropped his new single “Freedom Song”, and people have been raving about it already.
Ken Wilber recollects that the “Freedom Song was originally recorded by Blackberry Smoke…” He added, “…I really liked the Southern Rock flavor to it, as I grew up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers. I was also heavily influenced by The Charlie Daniels Band, so this was a nice way to showcase that influence. This particular song has a great groove to it, it’s one of those songs that makes you want to roll the windows down in your car and hit the gas.”
Tony Cottrill, engineer and mixer at The DAWg Houze in Hendersonville, TN, spoke on Wilber’s new single. Cottrill exclaimed: “Ken is a pleasure to work with, and I’m always excited when he travels here to Nashville. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to record and mix his projects. He’s an amazing talent, incredible versatility in his singing, songwriting and his honest enthusiasm is infectious. Ken just keeps getting better and better as an artist and entertainer which will become obvious to the listener in these new releases.”
You can stream all of Ken Wilber’s music on Spotify, Apple Music and download it on Google Play, Amazon Music and iTunes.
