As the curtain rises on a new year, country music aficionados can rejoice as Kenny Chesney, the songwriter/superstar hailing from East Tennessee, makes a triumphant return to the spotlight. Known for his unparalleled passion for music, Chesney has not only announced a series of 23 stadium shows for 2024 but is also gearing up for the release of his first music collection since 2020.
“I’m ready,” enthuses Chesney from his recording hub in Nashville, where he has been immersed in a creative process that goes beyond the ordinary. Reflecting on the ample time he’s had to work, experiment, and collaborate with various musicians, Chesney shares, “I got to go places, do some things we wouldn’t normally try because we have such a clear vision of what we’re trying to do.”
Navigating through the intricacies of song selection for his upcoming project, Chesney acknowledges the ongoing conversation his music has had with fans over the years. He explains, “We’ve been having an ongoing conversation about life, love, friendships, what we lose and the people we remember since ‘Young,’ and that’s something I’m mindful of.”
During his hiatus, Chesney embarked on writing retreats and co-wrote several songs that will find a place in his upcoming album. “I never want to just force songs on a record because I wrote them. But I love the process of writing, whether I’m writing with friends or new people… It opens up how you see the world, and music. But I’ve got four or five that I feel pretty sure are gonna be on this album,” he shares.
Collaborating with Nashville’s crème de la crème, Chesney and co-producer Buddy Cannon enlisted a stellar lineup of musicians, including Pat Buchanan, Chad Cromwell, Dan Dugmore, Michael Rojas, and Dan Tyminski, to contribute their expertise to the project.
Chesney, often dubbed “the People’s Superstar,” continues to distill the essence of being young, alive, and hungry for what the world has to offer. His latest single, “Take Her Home,” is making waves on the charts, showcasing his ability to capture life’s moments in a way that resonates with listeners.
“There is so much to say – and sing – about lives people between the coasts are experiencing,” Chesney muses. “It doesn’t take a lot to be happy, if you choose to seek it, just like the passion people beyond New York and L.A. employ every day is every bit as thrilling.”
With the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour gaining momentum and an unprecedented third show added at Foxborough, Mass.’s Gillette Stadium, Chesney is poised to make 2024 a memorable year for country music enthusiasts. Stay tuned for something special later this spring as Chesney’s music continues to capture the essence of everyday moments.
