Kree Harrison is not new to the music scene at all, in fact she was runner up on season 12 of American Idol in 2013. After she won, she released her debut album in 2016, “This Old Thing”, which hit #28 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart. Harrison ended up parting ways with her previous label, Plaid Flag, in 2018. She signed with One Vision Music Group shortly after in 2018 and has now put out her first single with them, “I Love the Lie”. Written by Chris Stapleton, Morgane Stapleton, and Liz Rose, “I Love the Lie” sounds like a 90s heartbreak song with Harrison’s vocal bringing a soulful sound to it. Harrison has a powerhouse voice which shines in her recent single. You can tell she has a wide vocal range and is not afraid to show it. She sounds country but not too country, resembling a few female singers you might remember from the 90s/00s era.
Although she didn’t write this single, Harrison is still definitely a songwriter. She wrote nine of the tracks on her debut album, “This Old Thing” and is currently working on her next album hoping to be released later this year. She wrote most of her upcoming album with the exceptions of a few. With her debut single having a 90s country vibe, there’s no doubt that her album will achieve the same feel too. If it’s anything like her previous album or better, we will definitely see it top the charts.
