Luke Grimes Announces Sophomore Album Redbird Arriving April 3

Luke Grimes

Luke Grimes is set to release his second studio album, Redbird, on April 3 through Range Music and MCA Nashville. The 10-track project is produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Dave Cobb and represents Grimes’ most personal musical effort so far.

The first preview of the album, “Love You Now,” is available today across streaming platforms.

“Making Redbird was a cathartic experience in many ways,” says Grimes. “Sometimes the highs and lows of life are too much to express with words, so song becomes necessary. As deeply personal as it is, the themes are simple and universal: love, loss, and learning along the way.”

A Record Rooted in Tradition

Recorded primarily at Georgia May Studio in Savannah and Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, Redbird embraces classic country influences and organic instrumentation. The production allows space for Grimes’ steady baritone and straightforward songwriting style to take center stage.

Across its ten songs, the album explores themes of love, faith, regret, and resilience. Rather than relying on elaborate production, the project leans into storytelling and emotional clarity. The result is a collection that honors country tradition while presenting a modern perspective.

Grimes co-wrote much of the album and contributed acoustic guitar, percussion, and drums during the recording process. He collaborated closely with Cobb and songwriters including Jessie Jo Dillon and Natalie Hemby. Tracks such as “Drink Drink Drink” and “Haunted” confront personal doubt and reckoning, while “Without You,” “A Little More Time,” and “Love You Now” reflect on commitment, loss, and the strength that comes from remaining present.

Expanding His Creative Reach

In addition to his growing music career, Grimes remains widely recognized for his portrayal of Kayce Dutton on Yellowstone. He is also set to star in the upcoming CBS series MARSHALS, which premieres Sunday, March 1.

Musically, Grimes has quickly built momentum. His self-titled debut album and breakout single “No Horse to Ride” have helped his catalog surpass 200 million global streams. With Redbird, he continues to focus on craft and authenticity, offering a cohesive body of work that underscores his commitment to long-term artistry.

After spending time in Los Angeles performing in an Americana band and later relocating to Montana during the filming of Yellowstone, he now splits his time between Nashville and Montana, continuing to write and record.

With Redbird arriving April 3, Grimes deepens his identity as both storyteller and musician, delivering an album grounded in honesty and shaped by lived experience.
