Exclusive Premiere: MaRynn Taylor’s Lyric Video for “Dads and Daughters”

Two years ago rising country star MaRynn Taylor packed up and moved from her hometown of Rockford, Michigan to Nashville in hopes of making noise in the city filled with endless sounds. At age 17, she caught the eyes of a local record label and management company sparking her impressive music career.

Typically artists travel to Nashville playing endless gigs, making their way down Broadway Street and attempting to showcase their unique musical style to labeling leadership in any and every way possible. Taylor’s story, on the other hand, looks a little different from the rest.

60 Second Spotlight

A few months after moving to Nashville with her family, Taylor and her mother were venturing around CMA Fest at when they came upon a flyer promoting an event called 60-Second Spotlight, hosted by multi-GRAMMY winning publishing company, Black River Entertainment.

“It was towards the end of the day and we got this flyer that said 60-Second Spotlight .. where you would go and sing 60 seconds of a song you wrote or that you love to cover,” Taylor explained.

By the time they found the spotlight session, Black River Entertainments executive staff had wrapped up the event.

“I was like, well, can I please sing for you?” she laughed.

Performing her version of “Traveling Soldier” by The Chicks and “Burning House” by Cam left Black River’s executive staff wanting more of her smooth, charasmatic vocals.

CMA Fest was approaching and Taylor and her mother were ticket-less. When the executives approached them asking if they wanted to join them in their suite at Nissan Stadium where the festival was taking place, one can imagine the excitement the budding artist felt.

“That whole day felt like a dream and it was such a God thing,” Taylor commented.

From an Audition to Recording

Five months later, Taylor signed recording and publishing deals with Black River Entertainment and has since released her first song titled, “Dads and Daughters” which debuted on June 5.

“Dads and Daughters” was released in June and I wrote (it) about a year ago with Jason Earley and that was the first write that I ever did that was without my dad. And so, writing it and going in and writing about my dad was really cool for me,” Taylor said.

Given as a gift back to her dad for his endless support in helping Taylor learn and pursue music, the song captures the unbeatable love that so many dads and daughters share.

Exposing her raw feelings of adoration and appreciation for her father, Taylor emotionally commented, “Getting to bring it home and getting to show him .. was my gift back to him since he was the one who taught me about song-writing and singing and stuff like that.”

Her special connection with her dad can be seen visually in the song’s accompanying music video which features clips from her childhood. Fans can watch the exclusive premiere of the “Dads and Daughters” lyric video and check out the acoustic version of the single as well.

As she plans to release new singles, Taylor is using “Dads and Daughters” as a foundation going forward: “Being on lock-down in 2020, I have had all of this time to prepare and to hopefully release more songs that connect with more people like “Dads and Daughters” did,” she said.
