Country music luminary Miranda Lambert’s philanthropic endeavor, the MuttNation Foundation, is proud to unveil its initiative targeting East Texas, North Texas, and the Texas Panhandle with spay and neuter grants on World Spay Day, February 27th, 2024. Named the “It Takes Balls” campaign, the program is set to expand statewide in 2025, marking a significant stride in combatting pet overpopulation.
With the campaign’s inception in 2023, Lambert’s foundation has endeavored to raise awareness of the critical importance of spaying and neutering pets while providing financial assistance to qualifying low-cost programs.
“We were able to help 50 Tennessee clinics with their spay & neuter programs when we launched the program last year. This year, we want to take it to my home state and start in East Texas, where I was raised,” shares Lambert. “I think everyone agrees that spay & neuter is the best way to keep pets out of overcrowded shelters and reduce pet homelessness. And, as I’ve said before, sometimes it literally takes balls to do the right thing. Please spay or neuter your pets.”
The statistics are stark: each day, 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in the U.S., flooding overcrowded shelters with adorable yet vulnerable animals. Tragically, over 3.5 million dogs and cats are euthanized annually due to space constraints.
MuttNation now invites low-cost spay and neuter programs in targeted regions of Texas to submit grant applications, aiming to combat this heartbreaking reality. Applications can be accessed through their website.
