Country music star Miranda Lambert is set to release her highly anticipated new album, Postcards from Texas, on September 13. Describing the album as “Honky Tonk as Hell,” Lambert promises that each of the 14 tracks is “a letter from me to you.” Fans are eagerly awaiting this latest release, which marks a new chapter in Lambert’s career following her signing with Republic Records.
New Single “Alimony”
Lambert gives fans a sneak peek of her upcoming album with the release of the single “Alimony.” The song, a playful take on love gone awry, includes clever lyrics such as:
“You start steppin’ out / Only one thing can console me / If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone / Remember the alimony.”
This lyric plays on the famous phrase “remember the Alamo,” infusing Lambert’s signature wit and charm.

Recording and Production
The album was recorded in Austin’s renowned Arlyn Recording Studios, with Lambert co-producing the project alongside Jon Randall. This album is Lambert’s first since her move to Republic Records earlier this year, a significant milestone in her career. Through Republic’s relationship with Big Loud Records, Lambert aims to reconnect with her traditional fanbase while exploring new artistic directions.
Collaborations and Musicians
“Alimony” features a talented lineup of musicians, including Jedd Hughes and Ethan Ballinger on electric guitar, Texas icon Bukka Allen on barrelhouse piano, Rachel Loy on bass, and Conrad Choucroun on drums. Lambert collaborated with longtime friends and songwriters Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby to bring this track to life.
“We were out in my barn; I was showing Shane and Natalie the horses, and I asked if he had any other titles,” Lambert said in a press release. “He said he had one, and I was like, ‘What is it? Because your last one was ‘Looking Back on Luckenbach,’ which I didn’t think you could top. He said, ‘Well, ‘If you’re gonna leave me in San Antone, remember the Alamo-neeeee…’’ Natalie and I were like, ‘Alright, Shane! Stop showing off.’”
Lambert continues, “We went back to the house and got the guitars and I specifically was like, ‘I want a shuffle, man.’ I love to shuffle so much, and this record needed a shuffle! I knew I wanted one in my set because I haven’t done one in a while – and everybody loves a shuffle.”
A Blend of Styles and Influences
Postcards from Texas promises a rich blend of styles, from tender ballads and steel guitar-laden tracks to acoustic renderings and amped-up rock-tinged tunes. Notable highlights include a collaboration with fellow Texan Parker McCollum on the song “Santa Fe,” a solo-written track by Lambert titled “Run,” and a cover of David Allan Coe’s “Living on the Run,” originally featured on his 1976 album Longhaired Redneck.
