Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Announce U.S. Arena Tour and New Album South of Here

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have announced a new series of headlining U.S. arena dates, including performances at Austin’s Moody Center, Chicago’s United Center, St. Paul’s Excel Center, and a landmark show at Madison Square Garden. Acclaimed artist Gregory Alan Isakov will support. Full tour details are available below.

The tour celebrates the release of their highly anticipated fourth studio album, South of Here, out June 28 via Stax. The video for their first single, “Heartless,” which is currently #1 at Americana Radio and trending in the Top 5 on Triple A Charts, is now available. Directed by award-winning Kimberly Stuckwisch, the video explores themes from Rateliff’s childhood and his move west from Missouri. Stuckwisch, known for her work with Olivia Rodrigo and Margo Price, said of the video, “Growing up in an impoverished part of Kentuckiana, I often found myself running away from my upbringing. The arts became my freedom. Our lead character is modeled after myself, and I’m thankful Nathaniel trusted me with such a personal and important song.” Watch/listen here. Pre-save/pre-order the album here.

Tickets for the tour go on sale starting with an artist presale on Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 A.M. (local time), with registration available now. Additional presales will continue throughout the week, with general sales starting Friday, June 7 at 10:00 A.M. (local time). Full details and dates can be found here.

Pre-party upgrades are available to support The Marigold Project, Rateliff’s foundation dedicated to economic, racial, and social justice. These include intimate pre-show cocktail receptions and limited edition prints by Colorado artist Marisa Ware, available for Bend, Morrison, Austin, St. Louis, Chicago, St. Paul, and New York City. More information is available here.

This tour marks a major milestone for Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, who have built a reputation for powerful live performances. Rateliff’s stage presence has driven his rise since breaking through Denver’s D.I.Y. scene. Noah Kahan remarked, “His music has helped me through tough moments. He’s one of the greatest voices I’ve ever heard.” Rateliff has also collaborated with Paul Simon at Newport and Willie Nelson at the Hollywood Bowl, and recently wrote and performed a duet with Orville Peck on Peck’s new album, Stampede Vol. 1.

Rateliff’s live shows have garnered high praise, with the Chicago Tribune describing his voice as “one of the most powerful in folk music,” and Westword calling him “one of the few singer-songwriters who can pump foot-stomping energy through a venue and move an audience to tears with heartfelt solo material.” Since their first arena show at Denver’s Ball Arena in December 2022, the band has reached new heights and wider audiences.

Produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, Kevin Morby) and recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas, South of Here transforms a lifetime of pain and trauma into a stirring rumination on love, loss, hope, and resolve. Following Rateliff’s 2020 solo LP And It’s Still Alright and The Night Sweats’ 2021 release The Future, the new album blends emotional storytelling with the rugged R&B revivalism that has earned the band worldwide acclaim over the past decade.

The 11 original tracks on South of Here, all written by Rateliff and performed by The Night Sweats—Nathaniel Rateliff, Luke Mossman, Joseph Pope III, Mark Shusterman, Patrick Meese, Daniel Hardaway, Jeff Dazey, and Andreas Wild—capture the group’s soulful fire with immediacy and purpose. Rateliff said, “Brad was a great producer to write alongside. This album looks into my struggles with anxiety, insecurity, and life stories. These songs were recorded with my closest friends. I hope they help listeners understand their own struggles.”

The album’s latest single, “David and Goliath,” was praised by Louder, who described it as a “soulful lift articulating the internal fights many of us face.” Over his career, Nathaniel Rateliff has earned acclaim from critics and musicians alike. Robert Plant recently called him “one of the next generation of greats, with beautiful songwriting and a magnificent presence.”

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, originating from Denver’s rock clubs, have released three LPs, two EPs, and a live album. Since their breakthrough in 2015, the band has become known for their dynamic live performances and essential studio recordings. South of Here is a significant step forward, resonating with the shared human experience of seeking identity and belonging.
