Powerhouse vocalist Presley Tennant released a brand new single today and we sat down with her in Nashville to talk about it.
“Gamble on You”
Tennant wrote “Gamble on You” as her first project that was completely solo. She explained,“I was talking to a guy and I was like,‘This is either gonna go really good or really bad,’” because she had strong feelings for him already.
The artist was in the process of recording in Nashville when she noticed a poker channel on TV, which is where the concept originated. Relationships are like a gamble because their fate is unknown. “Like in gambling, you either win big or lose everything that you put into it,” Tennant said.
Taking a Risk with Love
The song is about her current boyfriend, whom she’s been dating for a year. Tennant admitted she’s not a risk taker, but the day they met, she decided to take a chance and approach him.
At first, Tennant was hesitant for her boyfriend to listen to the song, since it’s such a vulnerable moment to share. The first time he heard it, she played it at a low volume and talked the entire time so he couldn’t hear it.
Two weeks before this interview, she sent him the song and wanted him to actually hear it since the release date was imminent. “Babe, this is fantastic,” he said to her with approval.

Growing up with a Dream
As a shy child around strangers, Tennant loved the freedom of being herself and singing loudly around her family. One day, the determined seven-year-old called a vocal instructor to sign herself up for lessons. The lady called her mom back, asking if she knew her daughter had called.
Knowing her daughter’s tenacity, she responded, “Oh she probably did.” Tennant began singing lessons soon after.
Tennant fell in love with the music industry at ten years old, while she was in a girl-group and experiencing it for the first time. After the group dissolved, she continued on her own solo journey, with a great support system encouraging her and giving her guidance along the way.
The Voice
Tennant joined Team Kelly on The Voice at 16 years old, giving her a chance to showcase her talent to a wider audience. “Every single step along my journey has proven to people that music is where I’m supposed to be,” she said. Her dream became apparent to others. “I was very determined and very passionate about what I do.”
She’s worked so hard to get where she’s at now and can see her efforts beginning to pay off.
Performance with Kelly Clarkson
On her 17th birthday, she joined Kelly Clarkson in singing “Because of You” at one of Clarkson’s shows, followed by a cake and singing. Tennant commented, “It was the most incredible experience because of the fact that [Kelly] was my first concert ever when I was younger.”
She described it as a “full-circle” moment, as she used to sing “Because of You” at every talent show audition around her hometown.
As a side note, everyone I’ve spoken with that’s worked with Kelly Clarkson simply adores her. Tennant described her as “the most incredible person, down to earth, [and] very charismatic.
