Texas country icons Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum have unveiled the official music video for their heartfelt collaboration, “Is This Thing Workin’.” The song was co-written by Rogers, McCollum, and esteemed songwriter Monty Criswell, blending traditional Texas storytelling with McCollum’s contemporary flair.

This project marks more than just a musical pairing. It’s a reflection of a decade-long friendship between two of Texas’ most celebrated artists. Randy Rogers, a longtime inspiration to McCollum, played a pivotal role in shaping the younger artist’s early career. What began as mentorship quickly evolved into a lasting partnership, with the pair sharing co-writes, tour dates, and countless memories on and off the road.

“Having Parker on a song with me is a full circle moment,” said Randy Rogers. “We’ve been friends and working together for about 10 years, and now having this song out together is really special. It’s been a lot of years and a lot of hard work getting us both to this point and I hope y’all like it as much as we did putting it together.”

McCollum echoed that sentiment, expressing just how meaningful this collaboration is to him. “I still get a little giddy when I get to do something with Randy Rogers Band,” he shared. “Writing a song together, recording it and now doing a music video side by side is very, very cool. Getting to know and work with someone you’ve looked up to for so long has been one of the greatest joys of my career.”

The two recently performed together during a stop on McCollum’s tour in Franklin, Tennessee, taking the stage to sing “Killin’ Me,” a track co-written by Rogers and featured on McCollum’s fifth studio album.

Honoring a Legacy in Red Dirt Country

As country music continues evolving, Red Dirt remains a powerful subgenre championed by artists who live and breathe the independent, outlaw spirit. Randy Rogers Band has been one of its most defining voices for over two decades. Their commitment to an authentic sound and a consistent band lineup has paved the way for rising stars like Parker McCollum, Koe Wetzel, Flatland Cavalry, and William Beckmann.

Their second album, Rollercoaster, is widely recognized as one of the most influential records in Texas country history. Released 20 years ago, the album helped propel the band to stages once deemed out of reach and became a cornerstone of Red Dirt culture. In 2024, they celebrated the record’s 20th anniversary with a remastered and re-sequenced edition, honoring the album that laid the foundation for their enduring success.

Now, with “Is This Thing Workin’,” the band continues to bridge generations, blending nostalgia, growth, and friendship into one powerful statement.
