Sara Evans Joins Dan Seals on New Duet of “Nights Are Forever”

Sara Evans and Dan Seals

Melody Place recording artist Sara Evans has teamed up with the late Dan Seals for a new duet of the beloved ballad “Nights Are Forever.” Originally released in 1976 by Seals’ soft rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, the song became a Billboard Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 chart and remains one of the most enduring recordings of the era.

The tender track captures the longing of slow passing nights spent wishing a loved one were close, a sentiment that continues to resonate decades after its original release. The newly reimagined version pairs Evans’ vocals with Seals’ original performance, offering a respectful tribute to his lasting influence.

Sara Evans Reflects on the Collaboration

Evans shared her appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the project and to celebrate Seals’ legacy.

“Dan Seals has long been an artist I deeply admire, so being part of this tribute is truly an honor. Recording ‘Nights Are Forever’ alongside his original vocal was a remarkable experience—both meaningful and inspiring. I’m grateful for the chance to celebrate his legacy in such a special way,” says Evans.

Continuing Dan Seals’ Musical Legacy

The release of “Nights Are Forever” is part of an ongoing effort by record label Melody Place and the Dan Seals Estate to introduce his music to new generations. Since last year, duet versions of Seals’ classics have been released featuring a range of well known artists.

Recent collaborations include Broadway star Jasmine Amy Rogers on “My Baby’s Got Good Timing,” country hitmaker Jamey Johnson on “Three Time Loser,” and record breaking entertainer Luke Bryan on “Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold).” All of the reimagined duets are produced by Seals’ longtime collaborator Kyle Lehning, who has preserved the authenticity and spirit of the original recordings.

A Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Famer, Seals continues to inspire musicians around the world, with a career that spans both pop and country music and remains celebrated for its depth and versatility.

About Dan Seals

Born and raised in Texas, Dan Seals built a career defined by individuality and artistic integrity. Known for playing a right handed twelve string guitar left handed and with only eight strings, Seals often described his approach as “upside down and backwards.”

He first found fame as England Dan in the duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, scoring major pop hits including “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” and “Nights Are Forever (Without You).” After the duo disbanded, Seals faced financial hardship before embracing his country roots.

His transition to country music led to a remarkable run of success, beginning with his first country Top 10 hit “God Must Be a Cowboy” in 1984 and followed by nine No. 1 Billboard country singles. Songs like “Bop,” “Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold),” and “Meet Me in Montana” with Marie Osmond helped cement his place in country music history. Seals earned a CMA Award and remained a beloved touring artist throughout his career.

Diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma in 2007, Seals passed away on March 25, 2009, at 8:30 p.m., a time he and his manager referred to as “Showtime.” Earlier this year, he was posthumously inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame.
