If you want to put yourself in a good mood, listen to Shari Rowe’s Night Like This EP. This five-song EP, released in August, is filled with songs that will make you reminisce and have a good time.
Rowe’s Path to Country Music
Rowe grew up in an outdoorsy family in Arizona, which is reflected in her songwriting. When she was young, she listened to traditional country music while taking drives with her dad. Waylon, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash played through the speakers and influenced her musical style.
Rowe started singing at a young age. Her siblings and she would often put on shows for their family. They began performing for larger audiences at her church, which is where she met the producer who signed them to Atlantic records to record contemporary Christian music. Rowe explained that everything seemed to fall into place. With no prior training in songwriting, her producer guided her through the process and also connected her with other songwriters so that she could expand her skills. “it was really cool to kinda take what we believe is our gift that was given to us—to be able to perform and sing and write—and have that refined by people in the industry.”
Eventually, the group decided to go their separate ways career-wise, but they still share a strong bond on a personal level. Rowe went back to her roots in country music and was confident in that decision. She said, “Country music is a great place to be as a person of faith.”
Rowe met her husband when she was looking to put a band together and he’s now her bass player. She expressed gratitude that she doesn’t have to spend so much time away from her spouse, like most artists do. She said, “So many people have to say goodbye when they’re hitting the road and that’s something that we’ve never had to do. I feel blessed that we get to see the world together.”
Night Like This EP
Rowe recently released her EP, Night Like This. Its title track, written by Rowe and Greg Crowe, is a feel-good song about a night so magical that you don’t want it to end. “Night Like This” is what you look forward to on the weekend; a time to let loose and have a great time.
