The Red Clay Strays Receive Surprise ACM Award for New Duo or Group of the Year

The Red Clay Strays ACM Award

The Red Clay Strays were caught off guard with some unforgettable news: their first-ever Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award win. The band was in Savannah, Georgia, recording new music with producer Dave Cobb when they received a surprise phone call from Miranda Lambert, the most decorated artist in ACM history. Lambert shared the exciting announcement that the group had been named ACM New Duo or Group of the Year.

Adding to the surprise, the band was also presented with an official ACM Awards envelope, formally confirming their win in the category.

A Milestone in a Meteoric Rise

This major award comes after a grassroots journey that began with the band self-releasing their debut album, Moment of Truth, in 2022. The project featured the breakout track “Wondering Why,” which not only climbed into the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart, but also landed in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. The momentum led to a record deal with RCA Records.

Their newest album, Made by These Moments, also produced by Dave Cobb, has earned universal critical acclaim and marked their first entry on the Billboard 200.

The group, hailing from Mobile, Alabama, includes:

  • Brandon Coleman (lead vocals, guitar)
  • Drew Nix (guitar, vocals)
  • Zach Rishel (guitar)
  • Andrew Bishop (bass)
  • John Hall (drums)
  • Sevans Henderson (keys)
