Tori Martin Gets “Lucky” With Latest Single

I had a chance to sit down with Tori Martin for her first time at CRS in Nashville. We chatted about her latest singles as well as a fun side project she works on as a creative outlet.

“Lucky”

“Lucky” is the latest single currently impacting radio. During the writing process, she started with a personal idea: how to choose between love and her dream. She explained that too often we’re told that we can’t have both, when it should be a possibility. Martin wanted to see if she could essentially roll the dice, take a chance, and “get lucky” to make her dreams come true. “I hope that encourages people to do the same,” she began, “Just take a chance on yourself.”

Martin experienced this sense of luck when she met her now-husband in a unique way. Her grandma would always say, “Put your lips on, girl, you never know when you’re going to meet your husband.”

She kind of brushed it off but ended up meeting her future husband at a garage sale where he noticed a customer interested in music and convinced him to buy her cd at full price, rather than the typically-discounted garage sale prices.

He showed support for her in the beginning and they encourage each other’s dreams. “This is the real deal,” she beamed. “I was so impressed.”

“What Would Dolly Do”

Martin’s recent single “What Would Dolly Do” captured our attention because of its traditional country elements, which we’re always rooting for. ”‘What Would Dolly Do’ is so much fun,” Martin said. “I didn’t know how it would be received because it was a little more traditional country and up until that point I had only released pop-country sound.”

As for the inspiration behind the song, that much was clear. “We all love Dolly. How could you not love her, she’s so amazing!”

“I’m really excited to kind of bring some of those elements back.” When asked about future releases, Martin couldn’t disclose all of the details, but hinted that there may be more traditional country elements woven in as well.

She went on to say that traditional country is her bread and butter, so we’re looking forward to what’s to come.

American Idol

Martin graced America’s TV sets when she appeared on season 14 of American Idol. She described the experience as surreal and one that helped her grow as an artist. “I had a great experience overall, I loved it,” she said.

AirBnb

A fun fact about Tori Martin is that she decorates AirBnBs as a side project that gives her another creative outlet. Her designs are themed and she’s most proud of her Grease themed home called “The Pink Lady” in Columbus, Georgia.

What’s Next for Tori Martin

In addition to “Lucky” impacting radio, she also plans to release a video. We can also look forward to see whether her new music includes the traditional elements she’s so good at. For more information, visit  https://www.thetorimartin.com/.
