Trisha’s Tailgate is an exclusive event hosted by Trisha Yearwood, which takes place prior to Garth Brooks’ stadium shows. The tailgate encompasses several elements of Trisha’s lifestyle: fun game-day food, cozy furniture and décor from her collection, as well as delicious drinks with Trisha’s custom mixers. Activities include games, a photo booth, and a cooking demo with Trisha.
We attended the Minneapolis party and we were excited that the event supports Habitat for Humanity, an organization that Trisha has been heavily involved with. Trisha and Garth Brooks have been volunteering with the organization for over a decade. The couple’s first project helped those displaced by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and they have been involved ever since.
“The thing that I have learned through volunteering with Habitat is everybody doesn’t have a roof over their head. But what I love about Habitat is that it provides that basic first step that creates a haven and a safe place.”
“Habitat is a great reminder to me of how grateful I need to be on a daily basis. I believe the adage, ‘To whom much is given, from him much is expected.’ Part of my job in life is to give back, and this is a wonderful way for me to give back.”
One thing that’s really special about Trisha is that everything she does appears to have a purpose and meaning behind it. She seeks to bring that into all of her projects, from her volunteer work to her songs, and also to her kitchen. She’ll weave in elements from her childhood as a way to remember her parents. For example, many of the meals she chooses to cook on her show are reminiscent of family memories, using recipes that have been passed down for generations.
Her latest album, Let’s be Frank, also reflects this heartwarming theme. As a child, Trisha spent a lot of time watching classic musicals with her mom. Those special moments made Frank Sinatra one of her favorites and she eventually partnered with a 55-piece orchestra to record the album of Sinatra’s covers. Trisha explained that when she records, her job is to make it about the song and telling its story.
We can also expect a new country album from Trisha in the near future. While Trisha didn’t spill many details, we’re sure that it will be amazing and can’t wait to hear it!
It’s incredibly inspirational to see someone who works so hard at her music, TV show, and products, yet still takes time to give back and help others. This seems to be a theme with many country artists and we’re proud to support this community.
If you have the chance to attend Trisha’s Tailgate, you’ll have a great time and also be supporting an amazing organization.
“I grew up in a small town, and if you needed something, the whole community rallied. I think that is what draws me to Habitat. In the days you work on a house, you quickly become a community. I will always be that small-town girl, and I like that small-town feeling that we are all in this together. Habitat gives me that.” – Trisha Yearwood
