Red Dirt country mainstay Wade Bowen has released an acoustic version of his heartfelt track “Hidin Behind This Microphone,” joined by the powerful voice of multi-platinum artist Cody Johnson. The new version is available to stream and download now, along with an official video that highlights the raw vulnerability shared between the two artists.

Originally the closing track on Bowen’s 2024 album Flyin, the song resonated deeply with fans for its honest take on the emotional toll of life on the road. In this newly released acoustic rendition, Bowen and Johnson strip the song down to its bare essence, showcasing their distinct voices and heartfelt delivery in a way that feels intimate and deeply personal.

“I’ve loved this song so much from the moment we wrote it, and it took us a long time to finish it, which just happens sometimes,” Bowen shared. “It was already one of my favorite songs on the album when I started getting texts from Cody about how much he loved the song and related to it some nights. Obviously coming from a guy like him that means the world. He’s one of my favorite voices and has always been a good friend to me. I’m so glad we finally got to do something together.”

The accompanying video features a blend of live performance footage and behind-the-scenes studio moments, offering an honest glimpse into the emotion behind the lyrics. It’s as if the audience is witnessing a private exchange between two seasoned artists who understand the cost of giving so much of themselves to their craft.
