Texas Red Dirt favorite Wade Bowen isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Today marks the release of his highly anticipated 10th studio album, “Flyin,” a 12-track exploration of his diverse musical roots.
Produced by Bowen himself, “Flyin” pushes the boundaries of country music, seamlessly blending classic honky-tonk with soulful ballads, rock influences, and even a Texas love song. This journey features collaborations with a talented crew, including Songwriter Hall of Famer Hillary Lindsey, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, and fellow singer-songwriters Eric Paslay, Chase Bryant, and Heather Morgan.
“I’m incredibly proud of this record,” says Bowen. “It’s bursting with the energy I’m feeling at this stage in my career. Having fun with music, writing songs, and producing albums – I wanted that energy to translate into ‘Flyin.’ It’s something completely new for us, and I hope my fans feel that excitement too!”
“Flyin” serves as a launchpad for the next phase of Bowen’s musical journey. The album throws curveballs, keeping listeners engaged with unexpected sounds while showcasing his songwriting prowess and musical versatility.
The record kicks off with the energetic title track, immediately setting the tone for the album’s positive outlook and unbridled joy. The upbeat vibe quickly transitions into the previously released “Mary Jane,” a sentimental ballad about a small-town girl yearning for something more.
Fans who enjoyed the Eagles-inspired “Rainin on Me,” the first single from “Flyin,” will be happy to hear it included on the album. It’s followed by the brand new “Nothin But Texas,” a bluesy anthem celebrating Bowen’s unwavering love for his home state and its impact on his music. In a special moment for fans, Wade even debuted the track earlier this year at the Texas Rangers season opener.
Adding a touch of nostalgia, “Friday Night” features the voice of former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman in a football announcer role, instantly transporting listeners back to their high school days under the Friday night lights.
The raw and honest “When I Wanna Be Wanted” takes a surprising turn with the addition of Hillary Lindsey’s vocals. Originally written as a solo track, Bowen felt the song craved a powerful female perspective, and the result is stunning.
The album closes on a vulnerable note with “Hidin Behind This Microphone,” a song exploring the complexities of balancing a musical career with personal life, and the solace music can provide.
“Flyin” is a testament to Wade Bowen’s artistic evolution and his ability to connect with audiences through his heartfelt songwriting and diverse musical influences. Grab your copy today and join him on this exhilarating musical journey!
