Who is Wolff & Co.?
When Dylan Wolff first moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Belmont University, he wanted to do a solo project. But the artist explains, “I think it’s important to work with people who are as good or even better than you.” As a result, Dylan formed the band Wolff & Co. with his guitarist Tate Bailey.
“There are other members of our group, like David Flores our drummer, but Bailey and I do all the work together. And once the both of us sat down, we realized that we could benefit from some background vocals and harmonies. So that is where the other members come into play,” Wolff says. However, “Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, it’s been way harder to keep everyone together since all of us are in and out of Nashville. Not to mention, the prices have been so expensive to stay there,” Wolff shares.
Nevertheless, Dylan Wolff hopes Wolff & Co. can continue to evolve with Bailey at his side, and eventually possess enough members where everyone can contribute equally to their music.
How David Wolff Got Into Country Music
Dylan Wolff grew up his entire life without country music. Rather, the artist primarily listened to classic rock until he hit high school.
“That is the moment I transitioned to ‘outlaws’ like Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash,” Wolff explains. “And while I was in high school, I went on a trip with some buddies. We all made fun of our friend who listened to country music. I remember he was listening to the song “Beer With Jesus”. I started to sing it with him, and my other friends said, ‘Wow you sing that better than anything you’ve ever sang.’ And I was like ‘That’s just messed up ‘cause I don’t like country.’ After that, I thought about it and I started to listen to country music more. Of course now I have moved to Nashville, so I try to blend that country side of me in with the rock influence that grew up more heavily on.”
Wolff & Co.’s Debut Single: “Take Me Home”
Wolff & Co.’s debut single, “Take Me Home”, came out on June 11, 2021. The single has a very patriotic style to it, which is fitting since Independence Day just passed. “Take Me Home” is all about illustrating where we come from. For Dylan Wolff, that is Phoenix, Arizona. Wolff, who is extremely passionate about his Phoenix roots, shares that his hometown is incorporated into a lot of his music.
“You will probably see more of the Phoenix roots sung about in my upcoming music as well,” he shares.
“Take Me Home” is a single off of an album that will progressively be released in the near future.
“A lot of the songs off this album are influenced by the Arizona, desert, and cowboy within me, because that’s where I come from. But, “Take Me Home” was written while I was in Nashville, Tennessee. I wrote the song with Phoenix in mind due to the fact that I could not stop thinking about how much I truly missed my hometown,” Wolff explains.
The message in Wolff & Co.’s latest single is something not only David can relate to, but anyone who has felt ‘homesick’. More recently, Wolff & Co. released the music video for their latest single “Take Me Home”. You can access the video on the group’s YouTube channel.
Lastly, Dylan Wolff wants everyone to know that “…with the recent political divide everyone has seen within the last year, we should all be able to live with one another even if we don’t agree on everything. And nowadays we struggle with that more than ever.”
The artist hopes to speak on this topic more and more as his career progresses.
Plans for the Rest of 2021
As noted, Dylan Wolff and his band plan to release an album in the near future. The album will feature many singles styled after Wolff’s Phoenix roots and classic rock influence he grew up listening to.
For example, “One of the songs is titled after a town here in Arizona named ‘Florence’. It is about Death Row, and it is one of the first songs Tate Bailey and I worked on together,” Dylan shares.
Overall, Wolff & Co. plan to stick to their country and rock blended style of music on their upcoming album. For information on Wolff & Co., visit their Instagram.
