‘December Wind’ by Corey Stevenson
Growing up in West Virginia was difficult for Stevenson at times. The country music artist experienced myriad issues like personal injury, family illness, poverty, and strife. However, it helped mold Stevenson into an artist that could write personal and original music, which ‘December Wind’ illustrates. The song is a beautiful tribute that will touch anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.
“I talked to a friend who just had a friend kill himself, and I’d dealt with that as well… We were talking not so much about what the people who committed suicide were thinking, but the ones they left behind,” he said.
Stevenson added, “This song wrote itself. As soon as I picked up my guitar, the whole thing just poured out of me… Everything that was written were things that I dealt with and nobody else could say how I was feeling.”
Influenced by artists like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, Corey Stevenson works to mix his musical style with his phenomenal guitar playing. Lastly, Stevenson plans to release a new album in the near future. Further, the artist is gearing up for a summer tour with his band in brand new venues.
