It’s Miller Time! Alex Miller’s Debut Album Out Now

I caught up with Alex Miller at CRS in Nashville to discuss his album Miller Time and his career since American Idol.

When I asked him if this is what he thought he’d be doing at this point in his life, he responded,  “No, I thought I’d be doing term papers right now, but I’m mighty glad I ain’t, I’ll tell ya that much.”

After American Idol

Miller brought his traditional country style to American Idol last year at just seventeen years old. After the show, he wrote as much as possible and had a lot happen for him in 2021. He graduated high school and signed with Billy Jam Records, which he loves because he gets to be himself.

He’s also opened for legendary bands and artists like Shenandoah and Hank Jr. “I couldn’t believe that I got to open up for guys like that,” he said excitedly. August, he’ll be opening for Brooks and Dunn, which will be another exciting experience.

It’s important for Miller to put on the best show he can and he knows how to get the crowd excited. He said, “I haven’t had an audience yet that I was disappointed with.” Additionally, the audience response has been exactly what he’s hoped for. “Everybody likes my original songs, which is very, very awesome for me.”

He’s been writing since he was a kid and now is finally sharing the songs. “Being able to do so, that’s awesome to see people react to what I’ve put my hard-earned time in,” he said.

The album captures a variety of styles from uptempo swing to gospel, ballads, and modern-sounding songs. “I tried to do something I think everybody might like,” he said.

The album’s current single, “Through With You,” sits at #57 on the BILLBOARD Indicator Chart this week and the companion music video is airing on The Country Network, Country Music Channel, Heartland, and more.

It started out as a song called “She Said We’re Through” and he was writing with Jerry Salley, who liked it and they rewrote it together.“I hope you ain’t through with me, cause there’s a lot more to come.”

When explaining his vision for the album, he said, “I love the old country, traditional stuff, but I like a lot of new stuff, too. This is my way of showing that.”
