Tayla Lynn always knew music wasn’t just in her blood—it was her destiny.
The granddaughter of country music icon Loretta Lynn, Tayla grew up surrounded by storytelling and steel guitars. But her journey has been uniquely her own—marked by grit, grace, and a deep love for the stage that’s never wavered.
Now, she is honoring her family roots in the most heartfelt way—by officially releasing “Out of My Head and Back in My Bed,” the very first song her “MeeMaw” ever asked her to sing on stage.

I spoke with Tayla about the song and she shared the sweet backstory behind choosing it: “I think I was about 19 years old, and I started going out on the road with her to do shows as a job. She said, ‘I think a great one for you to do is ‘Out of My Head and Back in My Bed,’’ and I just fell in love with it.” Loretta even joked that it was the perfect song for Tayla to sing—along with “Rated X,” of course.
Tayla admits that she didn’t really think about the lyrical content at the time. “I don’t even know that we thought about the content,” she said with a laugh. “She was thinking about vocal range and having an upbeat song to sing.”
But when her dad joined them on the road, he put his foot down—saying there was no way he was playing guitar behind his daughter singing that song. Tayla still found ways to sneak it in anyway. “I think we just kept doing it, and he would walk off stage,” she recalled, laughing. “My dad’s a complete comedian and they bantered all the time.”
That same sense of humor and family spirit shines through in everything Tayla does, especially her tribute work to Loretta. She’s already released Tayla Lynn Sings Loretta Lynn in 2022, with her follow-up album Still Singing Loretta Lynn set to arrive in 2025.

Following in Her Grandmother’s Footsteps
Despite her deep connection to Loretta Lynn’s music, Tayla Lynn says she never felt pressured to live up to the legend. “MeeMaw was the first person to teach me to sing those songs on her stage. It never dawned on me that it should be any other way.”
Tayla cherished the bond they shared through music. “I loved that she loved that I loved to sing her songs,” she said.
Before Tayla took the stage, Loretta would proudly introduce her granddaughter to the crowd. “She would tell people, ‘Tayla says she’s my number one fan, so she only wants to sing my songs.’ If anyone had anything bad to say about it, she would fight that battle for me.”
While Tayla brings undeniable joy to the stage, she’s also candid about the challenges of being a public figure today. “It’s getting harder all the time to do it as a craft and be an outspoken person because of the negativity on social media,” she shared. “Some of the comments that never bothered me before have started weaving their way into my heart.”
But Tayla is no stranger to resilience. She’s a wife, a mom, a recovering alcoholic—and a granddaughter born to carry on Loretta Lynn’s legacy with heart and authenticity.
With every show, song, and story, Tayla Lynn honors the family name while writing a powerful new chapter of her own.
