Emily Ann Roberts Releases Inspirational New Single

You may know Emily Ann Roberts from Blake Shelton’s team on season nine of The Voice, but her story doesn’t end there. We sat down with Emily Ann at CMA Fest 2019 in Nashville and she had a lot to say about what she learned on The Voice, meeting fans, and what’s coming next for her.

CMA Fest 2019 was Emily Ann’s third year participating in the festival, but she performed like a seasoned artist and was even named one of the top 20 artists at the festival by Rolling Stone. A few years ago, she hosted a memorable fan appreciation party. She loves to bake, so she made cupcakes for all of the attendees and live-streamed the party for those who couldn’t attend. A family even came all the way from Canada, with one of the members having the same name as her.

One of Emily Ann’s favorite things about playing shows is when she’s able to meet people afterward and connect with them. She said that oftentimes, people approach her in their cowboy boots and share their dreams of becoming a singer.  She loves to encourage them and tells them that if she can do it, they can, too.

New Single: Someday Dream

Emily Ann recently released her single “Someday Dream,” which she performed on The Voice last month. ”I needed it,” she says about the song. “I was working in town and getting to do what I loved, but I was so focused on where I was trying to get to that I missed where I was in the moment. I caught myself saying ‘Someday, when…’ and it was stealing my joy.”

She pitched the concept of this song to her co-writers and they created the inspirational track together. “My hope is that when other people hear this song, it encourages them and gives them the confidence that it gave me to own my ‘someday dream’ today.”

After talking about living her dream now and the blossoming career that she’s thankful for, she discussed what matters to her in her personal life.  “I’m blessed to have the sweetest, most supportive family,” she said. When she goes home, she’s not “Emily Ann the Songwriter” or singer, she can just be herself.

If you ask about her interests beyond music, she’ll tell you all about her love of boots. “It’s been a love, an obsession, and I’m addicted!” She has several shelves in her bedroom that display the boots she’s acquired over the years. Every pair tells a story, from the ones she saved up her money to purchase, to the pairs she wore during her most memorable moments on The Voice.

On The Voice

Emily Ann’s journey on The Voice was a whirlwind, but an overall great experience. She met so many great people and had an amazing team surrounding her. Even the other contestants were supportive of one another. “They’re family to me now,” she said.

One of her most memorable experiences on The Voice was when Dolly Parton came to spend time with the contestants. Emily Ann described the surreal experience. “It was like seeing a unicorn, it was amazing! She’s so wise. She sat for like an hour and just answered questions and told stories.”

Dolly shared her coping strategy with the group for when she was on the road and homesick, which really resonated with Emily Ann. She would pull out old songs that her family used to sing together and think back on what her parents told her and all of a sudden, she was back on the front porch in the Smoky Mountains.
