Thompson Square Returns to Radio with Upbeat Single “Without You”

Thompson Square, the Grammy-nominated duo, is making a comeback on the radio with their latest single “Without You.” The upbeat show-stopper is now available on all digital platforms (impacting radio in May) and features the husband and wife duo’s refreshing harmonies, backed by a banjo. The song’s lead vocalist, Keifer Thompson, sings about the things he would or wouldn’t be in the absence of his loved one, making it a relatable track for many. Co-written by Tim Nichols, Anthony Olympia, and Brent Rupard, “Without You” is set to make an impact on country radio nationwide on May 1st.

The single is a timely release as we head into the warmer months, giving off the perfect “top down, music up, hit the road” vibe that’s perfect for any road trip. Fans of Thompson Square have been eagerly waiting for new music from the duo, and “Without You” doesn’t disappoint. The catchy tune and lyrics are sure to be a hit on the airwaves, and listeners will have it on repeat. Thompson Square’s signature sound and harmonies are still as captivating as ever, making “Without You” a must-listen for country music fans.

“When picking songs for an album, it’s always hard because you want to release the best possible music for your fans. Sometimes a song comes along that fits so perfectly you know right away that you have to record it – ‘Without You’ is one of those songs,” said Keifer of the tune. “‘Without You’ was written by Tim Nichols, Anthony Olympia and Brent Rupard, and even though we didn’t pen this song with them, it felt like we were in the room. This song is so ‘Thompson Square.’ It feels like summer. It feels like fun, and we can’t wait to share it with our fans and the rest of the world.”

We sat down with them to get insights on the single and even find out some everyday things they can’t live without.

What inspired you to select “Without You” as your next single?

I think, for us, going through the COVID lockdown, we realized that we can’t live without each other. Nor would we want to. We were reminded of those for better or worse vows that we took and that experience made us stronger. This song is a fun way of getting those feelings across. Out of the collection of songs on this upcoming project, it just seemed like the right song at the right time. It’s just a crank it up, feel good, positive song, and a great way to kick off this project.

What do you hope listeners take away from the song and how do you think it will resonate with them?

Everyone has that one person in their life that makes them a better person. Someone who, without them, you would not be who you are. That’s the takeaway.

Will you be including this song on a future album or EP?

Absolutely! We’re working on the full album now, and hopefully we’ll see it released later this year.

Any other exciting projects or collaborations in the works?

Right now it’s all hands on deck for this record and this tour. There are two very special projects that we’ve been working on for a while, but we’re not sure when they will be ready for the world just yet. We’ll let you know as soon as they are, though.

Which things from each category could you not live without?

  • Snack: Keifer – taco flavored Doritos; Shawna – Slim Jim’s
  • Article of clothing (or accessory): Shawna – hoop earrings; Keifer – rings and watches
  • Song: “Without You” – haha
  • Holiday: Keifer – Christmas; Shawna – Halloween
  • Book:  The Bible
