Tyler Childers has officially released his latest album, Snipe Hunter, via Hickman Holler Records and RCA Records. The thirteen-track project arrives with the premiere of the music video for the album’s opening track, “Eatin’ Big Time.” Directed by James Mackel, the video adds a visual punch to a song that kicks off one of the year’s most talked-about country albums.
Produced by Rick Rubin with additional contributions from Childers and Nick Sanborn of Sylvan Esso, and mixed by Shawn Everett, Snipe Hunter captures a bold artistic evolution for the Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter.
A Visionary Statement Rooted in Country Traditions
In a recent interview with Marissa Moss for GQ, Childers offered insight into the record’s creative direction. The profile describes Snipe Hunter as “the most visionary country album of the year,” and calls it “his spiritual and artistic opus.”
“Snipe Hunter is a wanderer’s album, a culmination of every kind of searching, playing, huntin’, and exploring that Childers has done to get to where he is now,” the piece states. “A masterpiece that bucks genre convention and serves as a guidebook for life, full of advice and on-the-road diaries about how to survive in the wild (literally and metaphorically) and honor tradition while challenging it too.”
Chart Success and Critical Praise
The album includes “Nose on the Grindstone,” which just became Childers’ biggest radio success to date with over 40 country radio adds in a single week. The project reflects the Appalachian artist’s hallmark blend of poetic storytelling, genre-pushing arrangements, and deep-rooted musical influences.
With six albums now under his belt, including 2017’s Purgatory and 2019’s Country Squire, Childers continues to expand his reach. His 2023 album Rustin’ in the Rain earned two Grammy nominations and launched the viral hit “In Your Love,” which has racked up more than 13 million video views and 215 million streams.
Touring Across the U.S. and U.K.
Known for electrifying live performances, Childers is currently hitting the road with his band The Food Stamps. The “Tyler Childers On The Road Tour” includes two nights at Forest Hills Stadium in New York, a double-header at Nashville’s GEODIS Park, and a major stop at London’s O2 Arena in November.
