Exclusive Premiere: Trey Calloway’s New Single “Slide”

Trey Calloway

Country Evolution is proud to exclusively premiere Trey Calloway’s new single, “Slide,” one day ahead of its official release.

The award-winning singer-songwriter continues to build momentum with the track, delivering an emotional performance that highlights the honest storytelling and traditional country sound that have become his calling card.

Country Evolution Premieres “Slide”

Although fans may recognize “Slide” from Gary Allan’s 2021 album Ruthless, Calloway brings his own interpretation to the song while preserving its emotional core.

His vocal delivery gives the lyrics a personal touch, offering listeners a fresh perspective on a song centered on love, vulnerability, and accepting one another’s imperfections.

Calloway said, “I really enjoy this song because it’s an upbeat love song that celebrates real, imperfect relationships. I hope it’s a relatable anthem about fighting for love despite our flaws.”

A Song About Loving Someone Through Imperfection

At the heart of “Slide” is a message about embracing both the strengths and flaws that come with any relationship.

The lyrics paint a picture of someone who understands they are far from perfect but hopes love is strong enough to withstand life’s inevitable mistakes.

One of the song’s standout moments arrives in the chorus:

What if I fall and I can’t fly?
I’m not what your heart had in mind
For what it’s worth, you know I’ll try
So if I slip, could you let it slide?

Building on the Success of Truck Around

“Slide” follows the recent release of Calloway’s album, Truck Around, which is available on all streaming platforms.

Blending influences from the golden era of 1990s country with a modern approach, the album showcases Calloway’s appreciation for traditional country music while continuing to establish him as one of the genre’s rising artists.

New Music and Major Career Milestones

Away from the recording studio, Calloway recently traded his cowboy hat for a racing helmet, taking six laps around Daytona International Speedway at speeds exceeding 170 mph alongside Forbes thrill seeker Jim Clash.

He is also working on his upcoming EP, Honkytonk Generation, which is expected later this year.

The project reunites Calloway with producer and co-writer Phil O’Donnell, whose songwriting credits include No. 1 hits for George Strait, Blake Shelton, and Montgomery Gentry. O’Donnell has also worked with artists including Cody Johnson, Chris Janson, Craig Morgan, Clay Walker, Aaron Watson, and Craig Campbell.

Calloway continues adding tour dates throughout Nashville and across the country, including performances in Las Vegas later this summer and his first appearance at the Ryman Auditorium.
