Jeremy Parsons Releases Video for “Making Things up As I Go”

Country singer Jeremy Parsons recently released a video for his song, “Making Things up As I Go” and it’s guaranteed to entertain you! In a press release, Parsons said, “I hope this video makes you laugh and smile as much as we all did when we were making it.”

Parsons partnered with longtime friend, P.J. Schenkel, of Three Hat Media, to create the video. We talked with Parsons and asked what inspired the various scenes in the video. He said they drew inspiration from things they enjoy and that others might appreciate. For example, they are both fans of Bob Ross, so they added a character called “Rob Boss” to the video.

The video contains a scene with a rocketship and Parsons explained to us that it represents risk-taking. Going into space is no small feat and neither is being an artist and working toward your dreams, rather than taking a more stable job.

He also commented about the song itself in a press release. “This song is very important to me as it was written and made in a very rough time in my life,” says Parsons. “Everything felt out of my control and unstable. It was nice to be able to write the bright side from a dark and realistic perspective. It was important to me that the video reflect that too. P.J. Schenkel, as always, was able to use his genius to perfectly bring that to life. You never know what’s going to happen in life or even where the day might go but you can always get through it on your feet and make it work. I hope this video makes you laugh and smile as much as we all did when we were making it.”

Award-Winning Videos

This was not the first video that Schenkel and Parsons partnered on. They worked together on two others (“Burn This House Down” and “Why Is The Bluebird Blue”), which won awards at several film festivals, including the Jersey Shore Film Festival, Indie’s Best Films Festival, and the Monkey Bread Tree Film Festival, an IMDB-sanctioned film festival.

Parsons told us that it was nice for his songs to get exposure on another medium, but he was happy that Schenkel’s work was getting exposure, too. “There’s so many music platforms out there, but it’s nice to see his work noticed as well. That means a lot to me because it’s also my project, but it’s a joint venture when you work with anybody on anything. Your whole team is getting some credit that’s well-deserved.”
